Historical Event on 2/14/1929

Devendra Lal was born in Varanasi. He made extensive studies of meteorites of Lunar rocks brought by the Apollo and Luna Missions and of material from the Ocean bed. He also evolved techniques to understand post events in the solar system from cosmic ray ""Signatures"". One of his most significant findings is that the intensity of cosmic rays during the last few million years has been the same as it is today. He was a geophysicist associated with the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad.

8/20/1997Premananda, self-styled godman, sentenced by Pudukottai district and sessions court to life imprisonment for two terms and a fine of Rs. 66.4 lakhs for rape of 13 inmates of his ashram and murder of a male inmate.
12/8/1994At 1730 hrs, a rocket propelled grenade fired by Somalia militia during inter clan fighting exploded on the roof of the barrack which housed IAF officers. In the explosion, two officers and an airman were injured.
12/14/1998The Supreme Court allows Karnataka to begin skeletal work on erection of 26 crest gates at the Almatti dam on the Krishna at ''its own risk and cost'', but directs it not to raise the dam height beyond the present 509 metres.
