Historical Event on 09/20/1398
Amir Timur of Timur Lang invaded India with 92 squadrons of horses and 90,000 cavalry and reached the banks of Sindhu river near Atak city (now in Pakistan). He then attacked Delhi because its Muslim Sultanate was too tolerant of Hindu idolatry. A Mongolian follower of Sufism, he was one of the most ruthless of all conquerors. Timur crossed the Indus River at Attock (now in Pakistan) on 24 September 1398.

9/12/1686	Aurangzeb ended Adilshah's kingdom. The garrison lost heart and surrendered Sikandar who was sent to the state prison at Daulatabad. Bijapur was invested and the city opened its gates to the Mughals. Bijapur as an independent kingdom ceased to exist.
4/24/1972	Jamini Roy, Padmabhushan awardee and famous painter, passed away.

3/30/1699	Guru Govind Singh the 10th Guru of Sikh's established 'Khalsa Panth'.
7/3/1991	Kailash Sethi was appointed as the Narcotics Commissioner of India. He headed this office till 22-07-1996.
1/26/1997	Delhi becomes the first state in India to enforce a ban on smoking in all public places.
