1/17/1941Subhashchandra Bose went underground at Calcutta. He appeared in Moscow after sone days.
3/21/1966Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS-P3) placed into polar orbit. This carries remote sensing payload and an X-ray astronomy payload. Launched by third developmental flight of India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-D3) which is for launching 1,000-1,200 kg class of remote sensing satellites into polar sun-synchronous orbit. Still in service.
12/7/1995Indian National Satellite (INSAT-2C), third indigenous satellite in the INSAT-2 series, launched. This has additional capabilities such as mobile satellite service, business communication and television outreach beyond Indian boundaries. This is still in service. It was launched by Ariane launch vehicle at French Guyana.

12/22/1928An Alpine Romance', a 709 feet long sound film produced by Universal Picture Corporation, America, was the first sound film censored at Bombay on December 22. The other sound films censored on the same day were 'The Brox Sisters' and 'Bailey and Barnum.'
8/30/2000A. B. Vajpayee, Prime Minister, announced a package for small units raising the ceiling on loans from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 25 lakhs. For the handloom sector, a separate scheme costing Rs. 447 crores was also finalised.
